I had interviews with 2 different companies recently, and as is usually the case I've had slightly different impressions of each.
The main point is that one has decided it is interested in making me an offer (which I hope to receive soon), and the other isn't. Given that I had a more positive impression of one in terms of the team, work environment, etc., and that they are the ones aiming to provide an offer, I'm not too cut up about the other, although I do have my questions as to how they've reached their stated conclusions.
Interviewing and technical expectations
Installing Windows 7 - initial thoughts
A fresh install of Windows 7, and a chance to compare it to the release candidate. Not a huge difference perhaps, but it's definitely reasonably responsive on a dual-core setup with a reasonable amount of memory.
Some work tomorrow and some progress on the server setup
I've had a few days out from the contracting work I've been doing, not entirely by choice. However, I've got a tendency to get on with work regardless of illness or injury (especially injury, having kept riding into work even with a broken finger and returning to work halfway through the time I was signed off for when I broke my arm), so actually resting up is probably no bad thing. I have some work tomorrow, which as always I'm keen to resume, but I'm hoping it's either more than just a half day or so's work, or that some more contract work comes along soon.
Not much development today
I don't get ill very often, but with my whole family having gone down with a cough, it's not a complete surprise that today I'm feeling a little rough, too. Woke up with no voice at all, fortunately it's back a bit now.
